Milestone 0.001

I wrote my first email in Japanese this evening. My Japanese teacher wants me to meet a couple of her Tai Chi students who don’t speak English, and we’re setting up a time and date to meet at a “beer garden” downtown. (I almost feel like she’s showing off one of her grandkids or something.)

Anyway, I’ve had a few exchanges with this woman, and I hope I haven’t inadvertently insulted her best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend or something. I’ll let you know how it goes. 🙂

    I’m sure she’s pretty… on the inside.
*grins* I had to. I’m sorry. You should totally learn to say that in Japanese, though.

oh hey do you have a program that makes the letters appear as characters or whatever they are called or do you have to do some sort of transliteration?

By the time I learn how to say it, I hope I’ll never be in a situation (or exercise the stupidity) to do so.

    Carolyn:
I installed the Japanese language into Windows XP, so I can switch between typing Japanese and typing English with a keyboard shortcut. If you go to “Regional and Language Options” in Control Panel, you can add support for East Asian languages from there. Do Japanese characters not appear properly on your computer?
