Sudoku

I just learned tonight what sudoku actually means in Japanese. It’s a compound formed from two Japanese kanji.

数字　＝　すうじ　＝　suuji = figure; number; numeral

独　＝　どく　＝　doku = alone, single (when used in context) (This kanji also means Germany, for some reason.)

Huh. Who knew?
